My name is Rob Maggin, I’m driven by a vision to provide beautiful custom homes to residents in the Washington D.C. metro area.
I’ve been involved in the home building industry since I first helped my dad build homes in Washington D.C. in the late 1960’s.
And after working in the home building business and living in the DC area for a real long time, it just hit me… wouldn’t it be nice, if you didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg just for a set of plans to build an architecturally pleasing home?
I mean, how hard could it be to draw some pictures of a new home that really works? Works functionally and aesthetically.
(Not hard if you have talented architect). So we decided to create new home plans (we call them neighborhood collections) that actually
“fit” and “blend” in to neighborhoods around our D.C. metro region.
We cared about creating homes that didn’t stick out like a fire truck. Homes that didn’t look and feel like the “cookie-cutter” homes you see around town.
We wanted to create new homes that blend into the scale and feel of each neighborhood.
Homes with massing that’s sensitive to the existing homes.
And we saw the need for designing and building smaller homes. Homes with a smart use of space. Homes that don’t waste alot of resources.
But, homes with a real sense of design. And we also realized that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
Some people like cats, some people like dogs…
..Okay, okay, not a great analogy. But it’s easy to
paint a builder or architect into a particular “home style” box.
Like, ‘they only build bungalows’. Or, ‘they only build green’. Or, ‘they only build prefabs’.
Well, we feel and believe that a good architect and a good builder really listen to their client and
guide their client along.
The architect and builder should figure out what their client is trying to say and what’s really important to their client.
And a good architect and builder should be able to extract what their client is thinking and seeing in their clients minds eye, and then communicate that vision by putting it on paper.
So, some clients like traditional style homes, and some like transitional style homes, and we found that a growing slice of our clients like modern and contemporary and Mediterranean style homes.
And we believe we’re successful when we’re able to extract what our client is thinking and
create a design they love. A design that reflects their wants and desires. Not a design
that rams our ego down the clients throat.
That’s why we’ve created the hundreds of new home plans you’ll find on this site.
We add a few new home plans each week. And we’re always experimenting.
You’ll see our homes going up in Bethesda, McLean, Chevy Chase, Arlington, N.W.D.C., Falls Church, Potomac and Rockville.
